10. The Brightness of His Glory (Excellence)
Hebrews 1:3 "The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven."
Dear Lord,
These seem to be so many times I am swallowed up
by the discouraging sense of my own second-ratedness.
I try so hard and do so poorly.
I start so well and end so quickly.
I give it my best and discover it isn't enough.
And so I come to You, the Savior of my soul -
You who have so completely saved me that nothing
of my own failure or sin could restrict the unlimited
power of Your salvation.
Come to me now.
Come in the excellency of the brightness
of Your glorious person and fill my life.
At those points where my own handicap, restrictions, or
mediocrity prevail,
come in the excellence of Your nature and power.
I choose You today.
I receive the resources of Your excellence
as my source, my supply and my shelter.
I both receive and take refuge in Your completeness.
Thank You, Jesus.
My todays can't be mediocre anymore.
Your excellence is beginning to overflow around me.
Amen.
