Course length:
1 6 hours per week for over 2 years.
Entry requirements:
You need to have 4 or 5 GCSEs at Grades A-C or an Intermediate
GNVQ. (4 merits at least).
Mature students are encouraged to apply and will be considered; if they
can prove that they have the ability to meet the course contents and
demonstrate the ability to successfully complete the course.
Course content:
Year 1 units: Information Technology Systems, Using Information
Technology, Organisation & IT, Software, Systems Analysis & Systems
Design Methods, Computer Graphics, Multi-media, Information
Technology Project, Database Development.
Year 2 units: Computational methods, Procedural Program Design,
Communication and Networking, Operating Systems and Technical
Support, Procedural Program Production, Computers in an Information
Society, Object Orientated Programming, Using Application Software.
Assessment:
1. Continuous assessment through Portfolio
2. Tests.
Progression:
Higher education programme or employment
