The Garden
The Garden is a private military school for young people ages 6 to 19. A student in the Garden has 4 years, from the age of 15 to 19, to pass the graduation exam. If they don�t pass the exam, they will be expelled from the school. Only graduates from the Garden are able to use magic in Final Fantasy VIII.
The most promising students of the Garden have a chance to become a member of SeeD, a highly elite military group not unlike 1st Class Soldiers in Final Fantasy VII. At the Garden, SeeD members improve their fighting skills and learn magic. Balamb is a large island that hosts this particular Garden. See a map of Balamb.
There is a main gate and a secret path for entering the Balamb Garden. Others areas of this Garden include a restaurant, infirmary, living quaters, and various hallways.

Dollet Beach and Dollet City
Dollet Beach is where Squall and his friends start their invasion in the Japanese Demo.
A enormous metal wall separates the city of Dollet and Dollet Beach. In the middle of Dollet City is the Central Plaza where Squall is ordered to fight with soldiers from Dollet.
The Tower
The Tower is found past the Central Plaza and up into the mountains.
Some sources say that it is a communication device because there appears to be a satellite dish at the top. Reminds me of Bugenhagen�s machine in FF7. Squall mentions that he remembers it from his childhood.
