Firstly its really not that difficult and there is lots of information out there to help. Some of the best comes from technical manuals, such as the Promega one for RNA probe synthesis. This is really worth reading if you have never used T7, SP6 and T3 polymerases before.
For actual protocols you cant do a lot better than the Boehringer guide to insitu hybridisation and this will tell you lots about DNA as well as RNA ISH.
Journal wise there is a lot to be had from Biotechniques (as usual) and The technical tips on line site that I've bookmarked in a previous page. Another journal that is really good is The Journal of Histochem. and Cytochem. Dave Wilkinsons Book is also useful but is almost always on loan from the library and so one can never get hold of it.
