Part 1: Internet Search Strategy Secrets

 

1. Capital letters

 

Rock only finds "Rock"

2. Small Letters

rock will find both "Rock" or "rock"

 

3. Multiple Words

This will find every page with the word "rock" or with the word "music".

 

4. Specific Phrases

This will find pages with the phrase "rock music".

 

5. Words that must be included

a.

This means the word "sting" must be on the page, and the word "police" must also be on the page.

or

b.

 

6. Words that must not be included

a.

This will find every page with the word "python" , but not with the word "monty".

or

b.

This will find every page with the word "music" , but not with the word "rock".

 

7. different forms of word

rock* will find every word that begins with "rock...", like rock, rocker, rocket, etc.

For each of the above searches, find the number of matches by pressing SUBMIT.
