Grambling State University President Steve Favors solicits your financial support for GSU's Tiger Annual Fund. The drive ends June 30, 1999 and its goal has been set at $500,000. The theme for this year's Annual Fund is "Giving: If Not You--Then Who?". Your contributions are tax-deductible.

The Tiger Annual Fund is under the leadership of Dr. Favors, with the Office of Development serving as the custodian. All contributions received will be properly acknowledged and processed through that office, and these funds will be scrupulously managed by the University.

The University would like to thank you for your generous support ($41,000) to the GSU/Tom Joyner Scholarship Drive during the month of June 1998. Of this amount, $39,212 has been received; the balance will be forthcoming as soon as all telephone pledges have been paid. Funds raised will be used to assist deserving students with scholarships , which will be awarded through the Scholarship Office on the campus.

The annual fund brochure can be obtained by writing or calling the Office of Development at P. O. Box 1185; Grambling, LA 71245; (318) 274-2627. If the specific area to which you would like to contribute is not listed on the brochure, please check the box marked "Other" and write it in. Please contribute to the Annual Fund in a style that is a cut above your previous approaches to giving.

1. By making a contribution (check, money order or credit card);
2. By switching your long distance telephone carrier to Excell, through the Office of Development. The rate is 10 cents a minute in-state and 7 cents a minute out-of-state. There is the customary $4.95 service charge per month. The University's Annual Fund receives a $900 contribution each time 35 people make the switch. Additionally, as long as we stay with Excel, the University will receive a monthly rebate. We are paying long distance rates anyway, why not support GSU in the process! Besides, the rates are better than the competitors'. For details on making the switch, please contact GSU's Excel agent at 1-800-888-2457;
3. By soliciting others to support the Annual Fund (word of mouth is still the best way to get the message out); and,
4. By providing the Office of Development with the names and addresses of alumni, friends, and supporters. We definitely want to get the brochures out to as many people as possible.
