SEND ELECTRONIC MAIL MESSAGES
(Once you have read through this page, print it out for reference)
Creating A Message
- Go up to Message on the menu bar at the top of your screen.
- Choose New Message and a new message window will open
- In Subject type a brief description of the subject of the message, then press Tab or Enter.
- To specify a recipient for your message, you can type the person's name, or choose Service -> Directory to get a directory list.
- Click Enter after typing the name.
- Enter some text in the blank area at the bottom of the message
Sending A Message
- Click on the X in the top right of the message window
- You will be told that you are trying to close an unsent message
- Choose Send Now
- When you open the message back up again you will see that a franking mark has appeared in the top right corner of the message showing it has been sent.
Unsending A Message
- To make a message disappear from the recipient's mailbox, open or select
- the message, then choose Message -> Unsend.
- A hollow, Unsent flag appears beside the message in your mailbox.
- Be aware that the recipient may have already read the message. You can check this by viewing the message history.
Aborting A Message
- To abort a message which you have deceided not to send:
- Click the X in the top right corner of the message
- Choose Don't Send.
Replying To A Message
- To reply to the person who sent you the message:
- Select or open the message.
- Choose Message -> Reply to -> Sender.
- A reply window opens.
- The Subject field contains Re: and the subject of the original message.
- The name of the sender appears in the To field.
- You can add names to, or delete them from, the To and Cc, fields. To delete a name, select it, then press Delete.
- Type the body of the reply, then send it.
You should now have enough knowledge to complete the live assignment for your portfolio.
