SAVE AND PRINT INFORMATION FROM THE INTERNET

(Once you have read through this page, print it out for reference)
You are going to print internet pages, save information from the internet, search for text within web pages, copy text to the clipboard and paste it into a Word document.

You will need to understand the rules governing copyright on the internet so go here for a quick overview.

  1. Go to the Derwentside College Home Page.
  2. Print the main index page.How?.
  3. Follow the link About the College.
  4. Follow the link to Lanchester.
  5. Copy the first paragraph to the clipboard. How?
  6. Open a new Word document.
  7. Paste the text from the clipboard into the document.How?
  8. Type your name at the bottom of the document and print out.
  9. Go back to the home page.
  10. Follow the Take A Break link
  11. Follow the Food and Drink link.
  12. Search the page for the text string "Student Common Room". How?
  13. Copy the paragraph and paste it into a new Word document.
  14. Put your name on it and print out.
  15. Go to the Stanley page.
  16. Save this page onto a floppy disk. How?.

Using the skills learned above go to web documents of your choice and practice saving, copying, pasting and printing.

When you feel you have had enough practice and are proficient enough to complete the live assignments which will be used in your portfolio, go to Element 1.3
