Day 7

10:15 pm 11/23/97 ct (Sun)
6:15 am 11/23/97 rt (Sun)

Today we got off the train around noon. We walked to the bus station and almost immediately we were on a bus to Yangshuo, where we are now. This now is very nice. Small, but not just a dot on the map. There are many tourists here, which is a huge difference to what we are used to. It is refreshing , but sort of annoying, too. I guess we are so far behind culture shock that we have the same mentality as the locals: "damn tourists."
We are staying in this town tomorrow night as well. Tomorrow we shall go biking about the amazing scenery. Everything is lush and green and beautiful, and there are huge pillars of limestone (as tall as ten story buildings) just jutting straight out of the earth. Beautiful, just beautiful.
I really like the town here, the atmosphere is nice. I guess it feels more comfortable because it is the smallest town we have stayed in, the closest to being like home. I guess I really do like Laytonville, then, no matter how much I put it down. =)
