Land of the Pharaohs
Thematic Unit on Ancient Egypt

For the 1999-2000 school year, the 7th grade at Murphy Middle School has selected to use the theme, "The Land of the Pharaohs". The team will present Egyptian units throughout the year on selected topics such as: Mummification, Pyramids, Hieroglyphics, ancient Egyptian civilizations, and modern day Egypt. Each of the 7th grade homebases will have Egyptian names and will be involved in many Egyptian related intramural competitions.

All areas of the curriculum will be involved, including Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Language Arts, Writing, Chorus, Computer Skills and P.E. All lessons and activities across the curriculum will comply with the goals and objectives in the North Carolina Standard Course of Study.
