Retiring after many years of teaching at a university,
I felt honored to be giving the commencement address.
As I nervously awaited the evening's ceremonies,
a graduating student handed me a folded piece of paper.
"I know how important this night is to you," she said.
"Please read this just before you give your speech."
Expecting words of encouragement and inspiration,
I followed her instructions.
As I was being introduced, I opened her note and read:
"Keep it short. The football game is at 8:30."
The funny story above is taken from Campus Comedy.
