As president of the Gamma Chi Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta I would like to welcome you to the 1997-1998 school year at UC Santa Barbara. In the year ahead there are many things for graduates and undergraduates alike to be excited about.
We have just concluded one of our most successful Fall Rush weeks since our chartering in 1992. Casey Willis, our Fall Rush Chair, put together a week containing such incredible brother participation in rush, that we couldn't help but succeed. Excellence in scholastics, leadership and social skills is very prominent in our Fall '97 Rho pledge class. We are very excited about getting these new pledges actively involved in the inner workings of our house. We expect to recieve nothing but productive brothers.
Another great reason why we at Gamma Chi chapter are so excited about this coming year is the new revived interest in our house. Every brother is recommitted to making our house the best it can possibly be. If rush is any sign of what's to come in the future, we should all be enthusiastic about what else we, as a house, can accomplish.
On October 10th, we celebrated the fifth year anniversary of the chartering of the Gamma Chi chapter. The age of our house is also having a great positive influence. Graduate support and interest also, it seems, is at a peak. The support we now recieve from our growing graduate pool not only strengthens us as a Fraternity, but also renews our interest in its well being. Phi Gamma Delta is not for college days alone; and finally, as our chapter grows older, the saying can now become a realization.
The Gamma Chi chapter is continuously growing stronger in graduate support, scholastic achievement and quality of men. The school year ahead of us holds only positive outlooks and expectations. As president, I believe our chapter will only continue to surprise and amaze those who witness our continuing growth and achievement.
Yours fraternally,
Eli J. Bayless
