Gordon L. Cloward

Gordon L. Cloward, 75, died January 15, 1998 from complications of pneumonia.

He was born October 1, 1922 in Salem, Utah the son of Parley Leslie and Dora Alice Hill Cloward.Ê He attended school in Salem and Spanish Fork, graduating from Spanish Fork High School in 1940.Ê He married Mary Monk on April 3, 1944 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater. He worked as an independent building contractor for 43 years, building homes throughout the state.Ê He served as a fireman for the Spanish Fork Volunteer Fire Department for over 40 years, holding numerous positions, including Chief. He enjoyed working with his hands and working with people. He was an expert cabinet maker.

He was a member of the LDS church serving in various positions including Sunday School Superintendent, Home Teacher, and working with the Scouting Program.Ê He and his wife, Mary, enjoyed traveling and spent several winters in Mesa, Arizona where they made many friends.Ê He loved his family and enjoyed playing with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary of Spanish Fork; two sons:Ê Larry (Carole) Cloward of West Valley City, and Dennis (Trudy) Cloward of Casper, Wyoming; one daughter: Lynnette (Ron) Diamond of Spanish Fork; one daughter- in-law: Teena Cloward of Spanish Fork; 19 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.Ê He is also survived his brother, Glade Cloward of Spanish Fork, and his sisters, Leah Peyton of Ventura, CA, and Elva Killian of Holladay, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents;Ê his son, Craig James Cloward; his daughter-in-law, Gail Ott Cloward; his sister, Faye Holden; and his brother, Beryldean Cloward.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of the El Rancho Nursing Home in Payson for their loving support and care giving of our husband and father over the last three years.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 19, 1998 at 11 a.m. in the Spanish Fork 2nd Ward Chapel, 98 South Main.Ê Friends may call Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Spanish Fork 2nd Ward Relief Society Room or one hour prior to the services on Monday.Ê Burial will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery. ÊÊ
