The Soul of A Wench in a Modern Day Woman
As I meandered through the thickly shaded lanes of
the Renaissance Faire, I marvelled that Black Forest, County Marin, just
minutes from the noise and activity of San Francisco, held the secret to
time travel and I never knew it! For I truly felt I had stepped back in
time, to a place that sang to me in words only a soul can hear. As I stopped
to lean against a gnarled tree trunk, I heard a voice in the limbs above
me,
"Surely, I have never before seen so clearly the soul of a wench in a modern day woman." I looked up to see a bard laying along one of the mighty arms of the oak, and smiled to myself at his whimsy.
Jump forward 12 years. Picture a completely domesticated woman, wild days now happy memories she willingly pays her college roommates to forget. This stable mother of three is typing at her computer, entering her latest Forumland 4-1-1 member. Hmmm, Gemma. Nice name. Hmmm, what's this? Clan MacWench. Hehehe. Good one Gemma.
Suddenly, a bell is rung deep inside my soul, a remembering of someone I used to be...I needed to be...

Methos. Ah yes. The Gorgeous One. The ROG. The Horseman. Excuse me for a moment...THUNK!
Yes, at Tavern MacWench, I serve Methos. In fact, I am Chief Wench of Methos..there's just so much to do, there's always a job to pass along! Any wenches looking for work?
But working at Tavern MacWench means I must serve others as well...so I pledge to serve all Forumlanders by devoting myself to peace and hospitality on the Forum, and working to maintain the dignity the Forum.
As Renee Montero Kovach, I also founded The Hyperlexia Parents Network, a support and information network for families of children with Hyperlexia. This rare communications disorder is easily misread as autism, and hyperlexic kids have a vast wealth of abilities that can help them reach full inclusion. This page helps educate families on tapping these resources. I have also published my first book, Hannah's Hope about my daughter and the challenges she's faced.
I am also a Lector for St. Patrick's Parish, A Special Education Tutor, Room Mom for the Special Day Class, and President of the School Site Council.
Why Do I Serve?
Jesus said, "Whatsoever you do to the least of my
brethren, you do it to me." I have been so incredibly blessed...three beautiful
healthy girls, a wonderful loving husband, the ability to write and communicate
my thoughts...how can I not want to serve others, when I have been given
so much? Each time I can make someone smile, or take away one moment of
their pain, I feel I'm doing what I'm supposed be doing. Life is short,
and life is good. I just want to help make it better.
Why Clan MacWench?
Since Tavern MacWench has the best beer in town, where
else would Methos be? And where else would the Chief Wench of Methos be?
