| Serenity's Choice Maylina sighed as she gently closed the doors to Serenity's elegant chambers. She didn't understand where Serenity had been since dinner. After dinner, Serenity had gone up to her chambers to rest. She'd felt ill that day, so she had been dismissed early. The man who she was engaged to had demanded so. Maylina wondered why everyone had been for the wedding Serenity -who was called Serena by all her friends- had been for the other wedding. Before all the trouble started, Serena had been engaged to the Earth Prince, but a war began and Serena had been forced to call off her engagement to her beloved Endomyon, whom she also called "Endy" and "Darien". They had deserved so much better. Serenity's POV I slid quietly out of the closet in my bedchambers. I'd hidden behind all my floor length dresses while my lady-in-waiting, Maylina, looked for me. She hadn't found me. Looking around, I noticed my wedding dress laid out on my bed. It just lay there, looking bloody and sinful. How I loathe that dress! It represents, to me, a marriage that will only exist to cause harm. Our best warriors, who are natives of the Moon Kingdom, died because of my original refusal to wed the man who declared war on my home planet. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Let me explain why I hate him, the dress, and his people. Seven months ago, the Neg'lyr, a rogue planet from well outside our solar system, launched an unprovoked attack against the Alliance Galaxy. My mother, Queen Serenity I, asked the delegates of the Neg'lyr and their king what we could do to make peace. This was 6 months into the war. The king said he wanted my hand in marriage. There were problems with this, though. First, I was already engaged. Second, I refused to marry King Nyx'yx because he's a big, lying brute. Mother and the Lunites came up with an easy solution (to them...) They ALL (except for Maylina) half begged, half demanded that I call off my own engagement. With no other sane choice, I obeyed. Nyx'yx planned a quick date for our wedding, too. The date was set for tomorrow. The day after what was supposed to be my real wedding . I think he chose this to mock Endomyon, the brute. Nyx'yx had good reasons to choose this particular date, too. The Total Lunar Eclipse is tomorrow. So mother and I, along with all the other Lunites will have little strength and almost no power over the Emperiam Silver Crystal. This would make it incredibly easy to murder mother, and it could easily be blamed on the Eclipse. After the wedding, he plans on keeping me locked up in his (soon to be our) chambers as his slave, with no outside contact. I would have no way to learn of Mother's fate. You are probably wondering how I know of his plan, especially since not even his most trusted advisers know of it. Well, I don't think the idiot knows of the Serenity magic. It is a gift of the Crystal. It allows us telepathy and mindreading. The only disadvantage to the telepathy is that Endy can read it, too. When I told mother of Nyx'yx's plan to kill us, you wouldn't believe the look on her face. After all this unpleasantness, I will tell you about something much more pleasing... Endomyon. Words cannot describe him in full detail, but I will try with all my vocabulary to describe him. His hair is blacker than the blackest night, his eyes can be a clearer blue than the sky or a darker blue than the stormiest water, and no matter what shade they are, they can always see all the way into your soul an guard his secrets. His voice is as deep as the deepest ocean, and it is soft and capivating and relaxing, and he is so tall, especially in comparison to me. In earth measurements, I am only 4 feet, 11 inches, while he is 6 feet, 2 inches. Adding to his perfection, whenever we were together and able to act somewhat freely, like when we were chatting with one of our sets of Royal Guards or our friends, who all happen to be in the Guard or Ladies, he holds me close to his heart. When he first did this, I asked why. "Well, my darling, I hold you near to my heart because that is where I keep you. In my heart." Isn't he so sweet? His friends, though rough and callused and rowdy, are like that with my Guard and Ladies, who are one in the same. The Head of the Ladies of the Moon Princess' Guard is Mina Venusia. She is also the princess of Venus and has control over the Element of Love, Attraction, and Disguise. The other Ladies of the Moon Princess' Guard are equal to Mina's status. Rei Marson is the Prophetess of the Guard, the Princess of Mars and controls the Element of Fire, Shinto Magic, and Seeing. Ami Mercuryiala is the Tactical Adviser of the Guard, Princess of Mercury and controls the Elements of Ice, Concentration, and Intelligence. Lita "Minako" Jupiterel is Training Officer of the Guard and, Princess of Jupiter, and controls the Elements of Atmosphere, Wood, and Defense. |
