The Testament design used by the New Alliance is a complex variation on the original model. Gone are the bulky Resonance and Dissonance barrier systems, which have been replaced by an equally huge beam shield generator. While more technologically inclined than its somewhat metaphysical forebearer, the NASX-1021 system can generate an tremendously durable energy layer close to the suit's armored surface, enabling it to absorb and sometimes deflect any long range attack leveled at it. Short range assaults, are a different matter, however, the the suit retains its potent arsenal to help ward off any adventurous foes. Granted, without the incredible reserves generated by the original Testament's Cerberus Core, the machine seems impossible to power, at a glance. However, New Alliance engineers have gotten around this restriction by mounting two compact Neutron-S generators into the unit; one inside the suit and a second within its huge backpack.
The second generator has allowed the New Alliance to expand Testament's original arsenal, improving the caliber of its three Buster Cannons and adding a forth "mouth barrel" in its sensor head. The suit also retains its anti-gravity Craft System, which allows it to hover in mid-air almost indefinitely, along with the powerful hyperpulse turbines that gave it such amazing cruising speed despite its size. The one major loss it suffers, though, comes with the replacement of its Divinium alloy armor with the more common E-variant, which can easily be scavenged off the wrecks of some later Corps models.
Despite the overwhelming desire of many Alliance engineers to refer to this unit as the "New Testament," the old moniker has stuck. The one machine currently in the organization's possession has been given a new serial designation and assigned to the one of the few pilots able to meet the physical and mental qualification tests to operate it: Combat Coordinator Sybil Winter. With her rather volatile temper and malicious streak, one can easily question how this could have happened. Testament, even with its modifications, remains very much a potent siege machine intended to bring down fortresses and battleships. In the hands of an unstable personality, there could be disastrous consequences.
