    Story:

The Third Space War ushered in the proliferation of multi-configuration mobile suits, which were simplistic in core design but capable of mounting a number of mission-specific augmentation packs. Pioneered on Ark Orion, and adopted by every major power in the Earth Sphere, this template seemed destined to be the new standard of design. The techs at Ark Nova's Landon Technologies, however, saw its glaring flaws, which included the limitations that using particular packs could have for a suit. For instance, a machine mounting heavy support weapons couldn't fly, nor could a unit in flight configuration carry a substantial arsenal. Pilots pigeon-holed themselves on deployment, leaving little room for innovation, while taking on glaring weaknesses. It was the aim of the Braver III to resolve this issue.

The Braver III, like its predecessors, is a reliable high-performance mobile suit at the core, with its costs rationalized by an emphasis on individual strength over unit numbers. The centerpiece of its arsenal is the Strike Pack: a modular back unit that gives the suit everything it needs for multiple combat scenarios in a single package. Though its default mode is that of a flight pack, which allows for atmospheric flight and added maneuverability, it can detach and reconfigure this assembly into a large sword in a matter of seconds. With wings becoming bladed edges, and a magnetic coating giving it the strength to clash with beam sabres, the "Arondight" is both a strong offensive and defensive blade. It can even use the flight-mode's veniers to propel its swings, giving it tremendous slashing power.

Mounted on the back of the Strike Pack, between its wings, is a beam gatling gun that rapidly cycles through potent energy rounds to overwhelm and tear apart targets. While it can be employed as a surprising tail gun, it can also be used when the pack is in sword mode and the blade has split open along the middle, or when the whole pack has been reconfigured into a turret-like cannon mode. The light construction of the Strike Pack, which is made of the same Transphase alloy as the mobile suit, makes lifting and refitting it extremely easy despite its unwieldy look.

Unfortunately, only one Braver III prototype was made on Ark Nova. This incomplete machine was soon shipped to Earth, where it was to be refined and tested by the Newtype Corps. This never happened, however, and the apocalyptic climax of the war left it hidden deep inside the Corps-built facility that was under Vacillia. When it was uncovered with the rest of the fortress' treasures, it was discovered that, somewhere along the way, the Braver III had been given Divinium E2 shielding around its cockpit and engine. This extended its operating time without a Coordinator from 54 seconds to a more incredible 54 minutes. After it was completed with parts and weapons salvaged from Alexandra Kennedy's ruined Silhouette unit, the mobile suit was renamed the "Shooting Star," in honour of Kennedy's lost machine, and entrusted to her.
