    Story:

When colony agent Alphonse Graves arrived on Earth for the first time, he brought hints that those who had survived the Third Space War and continued living in space were more technologically advanced than those on Earth. Given the widespread effects of Resonance and Dissonance fallout, this immediately seemed unlikely. However, while supplying members of the radical Church of Man with weaponry, Graves dispelled any doubts by showcasing new weaponry and equipment that clearly ahead of anything typically salvaged on Earth. In some cases, he donated machinery to the Church on behalf of his company, Vulcan Industrial. Without a doubt, his most innovative contributions were the VI-MSX13-S prototypes, which was renamed "Saviours" by the Church.

At a glance, the Saviour, in both appearance and basic design elements, doesn't appear to stray too far from the standards set by such machines as the Fox or Zaku. In many respects, it seems like a very simple evolution of the former, with slight enhancements made to its physical performance levels. However, the Saviour was not a prototype under evaluation for mass production, but a testbed for a new reflective armor variant. This golden alloy, which covers the suit's entire body, is nearly impervious to energy weapons fire, possessing the ability to reflect any beam shot against it back at its source. The threshold of fire it can handle seems to range all the way up to battleship cannons, with the exception of some of the super-heavy particle weapons that these vessels use.

The Saviour's armor, however, is not the only aspect of the suit that really shines. Despite its "ordinary" performance levels, as stated above, the machine itself is still a solid combatant. In particular, the units given to the Church of Man have been heavily augmented with customized mission packs and arsenals. The first unit to appear, used by the Sister Rachel of the Church's Templars, for example, was fitted with a winged backpack that allows it to either hover or flight at high speeds. The verniers on this pack also supplement the suit's maneuvering, making it extremely agile in the air or in space. For weaponry, Rachel's unit features a double-edged beam sabre, and a prototype "super" beam rifle that packs the power of a heavy cannon into a deceptive package. This potent weapon can knock some targets out in just one or two shots.

A second Saviour variant used by the Church is the unit of New Alliance defector Tobias Winter. This machine's backpack also allows it to fly, though with less finesse than its counterpart. It also lacks the rifle and sabre used on Rachel's unit. Instead, Winter's machine features Vulcan Industrial's knockoff of the Alliance's DRAGOON system. Each funnel possesses a pair of light beam guns that frame a larger particle cannon barrel. To supplement this mobile arsenal, the suit also includes a customized beam machine gun, which fires rapid pulse shots that are meant to overwhelm a target. A beam sabre is inserted into the rifle, and can either be ejected or used as a bayonet.
