Though it was the Newtype Corps that created the variable configuration design template that has seen such success in the United Alliance's Fox and Vulcan Industrial's Zaku, the group has not jumped on to that bandwagon for its own new "grunt" unit. Instead, the Revelator has been optimized for stand-alone use, with a general high-performance frame that is based on loosely on the internal workings of the discarded Alastor unit. This strengthened inner skeleton makes the Revelator stronger and faster than its appearance suggests. It has a performance level that only Newtypes can handle, which nearly matches the that of some enemy augmented units.
In addition, the Revelator's use of Divinium-E alloy, a low-cost variation of the Resonance-sensative armor developed for the War Saint mobile suits, helps to augment some of the innate Newtype abilities of a pilot. Though the suit lacks an impressive Resonance device to significantly amplify an effect, the armor can still act as make-shift booster or transmitter for general telepatheic or telekinetic abilities. The more disciplined the mind of the pilot, the more effective the result. Even if a pilot unable to take complete advantage of this bonus feature, the armor is still tremendously durable despite its appearing so thin. The addition of beam generators only increases the suit's defence, allowing to create a pair of large, triangular shields with almost limitless endurance on either arm.
The standardization of the Revelator as the mobile suit template of the Newtype Corps is an inevitable development. Even with the first production runs, there are two main varieties of this suit, and an unmanned drone type. One piloted version is a standard model, which follows the Corps' crested sensor head style. The other is a commander's variant, which replaces this aesthetic with a pair of "rabbit ear" sensor and communications antennas. It also comes equipped with a pair of heavy warhead launchers, and possesses an improved version of the "Ormus" vernier system. Otherwise, both units are practically equal in terms of strength, durability, and weaponry.
