Story:

When the war ended, the UAAF's officers and technophiles took stock of what they had learned from their machines, and began streamlining the armed forces by cutting back on diversity. For the most part, only the general purpose Soldati stayed in production, while its many brethren were decommissioned. It is therefore very peculiar that the Shuivan was kept on duty rosters, considering that it held one of the worst track records of the UA-MS series. Some observers may call it dumb luck, while others may point to it as the result of favoritism from someone among the top brass (Field Marshall Adam Sheridan himself, no less).

Regardless of the reasoning behind it, the Shuivan was not only kept in service, but ear-marked for a complete overhaul. Its frame has since been reinforced, while larger myomer bundles have been layered beneath its armor to give it more muscle. This physical power does not offset its speed, however, which is higher than ever, allowing the machine to fly as fast as an Aeshma Wing despite its bulk. Unfortunately, these changes have left the suit much harder to maintain. When they return from a sortie, they give the technicians who work on them quite a workout. Also, the Shuivan's frame does not mix well with high speed flight in an atmosphere. Excessive g-forces may cause some harm to the pilot if the suit moves at its absolute top speed for too long. 

As for its arsenal, it too has been altered in a desperate need to give the suit its own identity. Both Armatech and Hajime have incorporated new technologies once used on the infamous Zodiac G units. Besides hidden missile pods in its shoulders, the machine was given a new C-Bracer, a hand-carried shield with a beam emitter that can either create a stable energy blade or fire medium-range blasts. On the more agile S-Type suit used by Field Marshall Sheridan's subordinate, Adam Eve, this shield is swapped for a heavier bracer equipped with a segmented thermal chain. As for the Shuivan's wide optional arsenal, it has been shrunken down to a few heavy weapons, such as a large calibre beam rifle and a lighter version of the infamous "Judge" series shell-firing bazooka.
