The core elements of the Braver's design are lifted directly from the blueprints of the Leo Gundam, one of the infamous Zodiac-G units of the Space War. This particular mobile suit had been intended for limited mass production, though it was later shelved in favor of cheaper models. The Braver revived the old goal, but with a few tweaks to the original plan. Advances in technology allowed engineers to make it much lighter than its predecessor, while the placement of its armor ensured that it doesn't lose any durability from its trim-down. The body's basic construction gave the suit a wider range of movement than most designs. A complex onboard computer along with universal hand plugs allowed the Braver to pick up and use almost any mobile suit hand weapon. This feature minimized maintenance, especially when original parts may be scarce. This also made it very easy to tailor the Braver for various missions.
Recently, in the midst of the chaos surrounding the near-destruction of the Preventers and Requiem's takeover of most of the Alliance, the Braver received an update to its design. The replacement of its original phase shifting Gundanium armor with weaker, but far more practical, composite plating developed by the Grand Cross has made the suit even lighter. It has also freed up energy resources that would otherwise be used to maintain the Gundanium's effects, giving the suit boosted vernier performance and more energy to channel through its internal frame. This has made the Braver one of the most agile mobile suits every constructed, holding manoeuvrability over durability.
