    Story:

During the Space War, the Aeshma Wing was the most common mobile suit fielded by the Grand Cross. Even when their engineers began to release a number of new high-performance and prototype units, this general purpose foot soldier remained the true backbone of the space rebellion. There are no clear estimations on just how many of these machines were produced, but the scattered manufacturer's records that remain indicate that the numbers are in the hundreds. This comes as no surprise, since towards the end of the war, the Tresdemo Foundation was desperately rolling out dozens of mobile suits a day.

No one has continued building new Aeshma Wing mobile suits since the Space War ended. That comes as no surprise given recent advancements in mobile suit technology, such as the Neutron-S nuclear engine. Few groups are willing to go to the trouble of redesigning the Wing with this new power source (its current battery can last up to 3 hours), and fewer have any desire to take up the weapon used by the losers of the war. Those who still use these weapons are usually former Grand Cross soldiers (likely outlaws) who have illegally kept them since the war's end, and pirates who have salvaged and repaired them from debris fields.

However, despite the disadvantages it has, the Wing is still a solid trooper, even by recent standards. While its armor cannot stand up well to high-energy beam cannons and missile bombardments, its namesake wings and body thrusters still make it tough to catch. Even its titanium armor still stands up well to most shell-firing and heat weapons, offering some defence when manoeuvrability fails. As for fighting back, the Wing carries a reliable heat sword that, while not as powerful as a beam sabre, is a good slashing weapon that drains minimal battery power. Likewise, its optional carbine rifle, missile launchers, and even its bulky beam cannon (an early model energy weapon) are all self-contained, and pack enough punch to make even the most well-equipped pilot take notice.
