Vulcan Cannon x 2: Mounted on either side of the cockpit of the mobile armor, these weapons fire light armor piercing bullets in high-velocity bursts. While not always effective against heavier targets, they are ideal for light craft, and even shooting down incoming missiles.
Claw & Storage Rack x 2: On either side of the mobile armor's main hull are cargo compartments that can have enough room to carry extra weapons, a shield, ammunition drums, energy packs, and so on. A folding, three-fingered claw can unlatch and unload these supplies right into the hands of a docked mobile suit, for quick and easy use. Each compartment usually has room for two rifles or one large assault weapon.
The core of the Wolfhound is a heavy mobile armor frame with an aerodynamic design. Its fighter jet-like body is a little nostalgic, but has none of the frailties of those archaic vehicles. Its thick neo titanium fuselage is more durable than the Foxhound's, while its larger engines give it a much higher top speed. This manoeuvrability is an asset for the unit, helping it compete better with mobile suit opponents. It becomes even more important, however, when the Wolfhound assumes its true role, not as a frontline combatant, but as a versatile support system for mobile suits.
The Wolfhound takes the growing secondary role of mobile armors to a new height,
offering the unprecedented ability to combine with mobile suits for added speed
and firepower. After undergoing a simple, minor transformation, the 'Hound can
easily dock with a mobile suit, attaching its main body like a gigantic rocket pack.
The cockpit section of the fighter clamps the suit in place, covering the chest.
Both the mobile armor's arsenal and expanded manoeuvrability are at its
partner's disposal, vastly improving the abilities of both mobile weapons. The
mobile suit suddenly gains two sets of additional weapons, access to whatever
stored cargo the Wolfhound might be carrying, along with full flight
capabilities and a whole new range of movement. Furthermore, the armor's pilot
can serve in any number of additional capacities, from communications specialist
to tactical officer, while the suit pilot is using his/her systems.
Overall, the Wolfhound has been considered one of Ark Nova's most ambitious weapons projects. It has, however, paid off well by providing the colony's military with a universal upgrade to its current mobile suit forces, and a new outlet for the colony's inadequately equipped mobile armor pilots. The colony government has evened helped manufacturer Landon Technologies expand one of its factories just to speed production of these units. Currently, the Wolfhound's docking abilities are completely compatible with several mobile suit designs, including some of those of the Grand Cross. Machines like the Rick Gades, with its huge wheeler, along with most United Alliance units, however, are unable to benefit from the armor's support.
Note - For the sake of statistics, the Wolfhound elevates the speed of whatever mobile suit its docked with to 160. If the suit's speed is already at or above this, then just add an additional 20 points.
