Mega Particle Launcher x 1: This weapon is exclusive to the Gundam's Launcher mode, wherein the mobile armor retracts its claws into the main body, and opens a wide-bore port at the center of its underside. This single beam funnels energy directly from the electrical battery, and can only be fired once every ten minutes. Its impact strength is the equivalent of a 600mm cannon, producing a high-energy reaction that breaks apart the target at the molecular level. Constant use of it will drain the battery even faster than usual, effectively halfing its storage capacity.
Hyper Vulcan x 2: Improved variations upon the original vulcan cannon, these weapons fire a heavier shell that carries double the explosive effect. On impact, Hyper Vulcan blasts explode over a surface, combining penetrating power with shear force. These weapons are kept inside the box cases upon Gundam's shoulders, swinging into a forward position in mobile armor mode.
Each of the Zodiac G units is a variation upon the same basic frame, an expensive yet intentional arrangement made by their designers to test new mobile weapon concepts. In essence, while simultaneously acting as the new retaliatory units of the Alliance, the Gundams are also weeding out a
myriad number of conceptual theories in both their arsenals and individual system arrangements. It is presumed that the best qualities of each unit will be noted for any new mass production designs that the UAAF will engineer, be they mobile suits or armors. The presence of variable units in particular hints that the Earth military is not totally willing (or perhaps able) to completely abandon
its trust in the latter as frontline units.
Like Capricorn, Cancer takes advantage of a variable design to effectively become three mobile weapons in one. However, while its fellow Gundam places a great deal of emphasis on speed, this unit prefers multiple-range combat capabilities. It is slower in flight mode, when compared to Capricorn, and only seems to retain a potent, long-range punch in its mobile suit configuration. However, in both states it has use of its powerful Kraken Arms, making it one of the first mobile armors that is capable of effective close combat. This leads one to question why the Alliance would develop a weapon that is more effective against their own units than those of the Grand Cross. At least, until the Gundam unveils its Launcher mode. A slight variation on the mobile armor, it transforms Cancer into an anti-warship cannon with no shortage of ranged power. Either flight-capable mode can also double as a "ride armor" platform, carrying another mobile suit into combat. Besides all of this versatility, the Gundam also has the ominous benefit of its Newtype "soul," a malevolently constructed personality that has been code-named Anubis.
Note - After a lengthy period of service in the Grand Cross, the Cancer was eventually destroyed in an Antarctic duel with the Gundam Taurus. Its remains were immediately confiscated by the enigmatic Tresdemo Foundation, who were planning to use them as a reference for future mobile suit innovations.
