Variable Beam Sabre x 2: A weaker variation of the beam sword, this weapon also creates a stable energy blade that is useful in close combat. More powerful than common heat weapons and other alloy blades or clubs, it has the capacity to usher in a new standard in close range armaments. It is also quite easy to replace and repair, though it does drain more energy from the mobile suit's electrical battery. Normally stowed in hip compartments, these weapons mount on either side of the flight mode's nose, acting as secondary beam guns.
Duras Bracer x 1: Constructed of the same G-Metal that makes up the mobile suit's structure, this heavy shield is capable of withstanding a great deal of punishment before becoming totally useless. On the plus side, it is easy to patch and repair, since it really has no gimmicks, though it can be used to carry an extra energy cap.
Vulcan Cannon x 2: Mounted in the sensor head, these weapons fire light armor piercing bullets in high-velocity bursts. While not always effective against heavier targets, they are ideal for light craft, and even shooting down incoming missiles. These weapons can only be used in mobile suit mode.
The realities of the United Alliance's Zodiac G project have slowly come to light. Six mobile suits, based upon the unfinished prototype of the defunct Englestein project of CC 086, were created by the United Alliance Armed Forces to wreck havoc upon the colony rebellion of the Grand Cross. Tailored for high performance in specialized fields, these machines each feature advanced weapons, equipment, and, most important of all, the incredible Paragon computer system. "Shackled" deep within the databases of each Zodiac G is a malevolently-installed human consciousness that has been torturously programmed to obliterate the Grand Cross, but is far too traumatized to actually do so.
Original plans for the Zodiac G units
called for at least one mobile suit to carry a nuclear arsenal. Believed to be
the only recourse against the Grand Cross' superior technology and Newtype
soldiers, these deadly weapons were ultimately shelved when cooler heads
prevailed. Nuclear fusion technologies have been phased out over the course of
the Colony Century, and are now used only in large space stations, Arks, and on
battleships. Early mobile armors and walkers dabbled in lightweight nuclear
cores, though these proved too dangerous for the sake of their perks. Likewise,
nuclear weapons have been unofficially outlawed by both sides in the Earth
Sphere conflict, especially on mobile weapons.
Capricorn was originally slated to be a nuclear missile launch vehicle, carrying a quartet of heavy warheads along with two "light" plutonium bombs. These ideas were scrubbed in favor of conventional beam weaponry, which seems a bit more limited but proves to be better suited to the machine. Its ability to transform into a high-speed mobile armor makes Capricorn an excellent dogfighter, with its full-flight capabilities adding a wondrous versatility. Its arsenal is simple, yet sophisticated, showcasing the latest Alliance beam weapons, which are both lightweight and powerful. The Gundam can also be equipped with optional solid rocket boosters for long-distance space travel, while its flight-mode is able to survive atmospheric re-entry without nearly as much structural damage as the average mobile suit would suffer. Combined with these features is the confined Newtype "soul" Thoth, an ironically-named entity with as much fighting potential as malevolence and fury.
Note - The Capricorn's use with the Ark Nova militia took it from the colonies and across North America, through numerous battles and raiding operations. After its return to space, however, the mobiles suit met its end at the hands of the Grand Cross' massive assault Gundam, Libra.
