Micro-Missile Pod x 4: Box-shaped additions to the Gundam's shoulders and knees will flip open to reveal a six-tube high explosive missile launcher, each with two volleys of fire (which means forty-eight missiles in total). Kept for close range combat, these warheads are programmed to swarm a foe in a single volley, striking multiple points for maximum effect. Unfortunately, they have limited range, though they are difficult to dodge.
Beam Sabre x 1: A variation of the beam sword, this weapon also creates a stable energy blade that is useful in close combat. More powerful than common heat weapons and other alloy blades or clubs, it has the capacity to usher in a new standard in close range armaments. It is also quite easy to replace and repair. When not in use, it is stowed on the back of the Gundam's waist.
Fortis High-Impact Bracer x 1: A thick G-Metal shield that can be mounted on either of the Gundam's arms, this is an evolved form of Duras Bracer that was standard to the Leo prototype. Magnetic coating helps it handle well under energy weapons fire. It is easy to patch and repair, since it really has no gimmicks.
Even these levels, however, were not entirely good enough for the Gundam, especially with the debut of newer and improved mobile suit designs. The shortcomings in Aries' layout began to show through in its continuous encounters with these other units. Lacking a shield, significant close range weapons, and limited in ammunition, it proved to be more of a short-term assault unit, exhausting its stength too quickly to balance the damage it could cause. Recent modifications, ironically made by the Tresdemo Foundation during their short-term capture of Aries, have gone towards solving these problems.
The "new" Aries carries a modernized version of the United Alliance's gauss cannon, streamlined by Foundation technology. It has a slightly larger bullet size, as well as an extended ammunition clip. Likewise, the Gundam's missile payload is more than four times its original levels. A shield and beam sabre stand-in for the older heat knives, extending both defensive and melee capabilities. The only price to these changes is a loss of frame integrity, which is reflected in lowered level of overall physical strength. To make up for this loss, a new vernier assembly gives the suit more thrust, making it especially maneuverable in zero-gravity. Of course, even with improvements, the Gundam still has its benevolent Paragon "soul," Sekhmet.
