    Primary Equipment:

60mm Beam Rifle x 1: A low-cost alternative to the Alliance's experimental impact beam rifles, this weapon fires lighter yield blasts. However, it is still a very effective anti-mobile suit weapon, more powerful than most standard shell-firing rifles. A heavy energy cap allows for thirty-five shots. The measurements refer to the size of the energy weapon's internal lens.

Mauser Multi-Weapon System x 2: A combination weapon system that ties together two powerful Hyper Vulcans with a pair of two-shot missile racks. The former is a variation of the standard vulcan, firing a heavier shell that carries double the explosive effect. On impact, Hyper Vulcan blasts explode over a surface, combining penetrating power with shear force. The missiles are simple, high-explosive warheads with excellent mobile suit tracking capabilities. Often, these weapons can be fired together, causing a startling amount of damage.

Reinforce Bracer x 1: A broad neo titanium shield that can be attached to either of the mobile suit's arms. Typically, it can withstand at least one or two direct hits before losing integrity. A magnetic coating gives it a high resistence to most energy weapons, though it is still not very helpful when faced with large field cannons.

Beam Sabre x 2: A weaker variation of the beam sword, this weapon also creates a stable energy blade that is useful in close combat. More powerful than common heat weapons and other alloy blades or clubs, it has the capacity to usher in a new standard in close range armaments. It is also quite easy to replace and repair, though it does drain more energy from the mobile suit's electrical battery. When not in use, these weapons are stowed in compartments on the Coyote's hips.

    Optional Equipment:

90mm(L) Battle Rifle x 1: The increasing new defences against beam weaponry has lead to new demand for conventional kinetic rifles like this one. At first, it looks like a redesign of the Grand Cross carbine. However, it actually share the same internal components as the machine gun used by the Winters mobile walker. The real breakthrough comes from its new 90mm(L) rounds, which are traditional shells that allow more propellant in each cartridge, a feature found in the 80mm rounds used by the Jaeger Wing (nicknamed blue powder from the unique muzzle flash it gives off). The combination of cartridge and propellant has made the rifles effectiveness a full twenty-five percent more than that of the GC 90mm carbine and ten percent more effective than the 60mm beam rifle. It can fire rounds in either single shots or in eight round bursts, and is fed by a one hundred round box magazine. Each suit usually has room for two extra magazines.

140mm Autocannon x 1: A long range machine gun that fires high explosive 140mm rounds. Made to provide fire support for a squad, it is best used for suppressing fire, which it is perfectly capable thanks to a high cycling rate, full automatic fire, and a four-hundred round belt-fed drum magazine. The individual rounds are designed fragment into shrapnel on detonation for added effect. The mobile suit doesn't usually have room for any additional ammo drums, so it relies on its wingmen to carry and replace these for it in the field.

    Story:

As the conflicts of Colony Century 90 progressed, it was obvious that mobile suits had changed the nature of warfare. No one found this more apparent than the colonists of Ark Nova, whose militia was outclassed and outgunned by the more formidable armies of the Grand Cross. After the colony declared its complete independence from the rest of the Earth Sphere, its new defence force commissioned a rapid development program for its own mobile suits. Landon Technologies was the only Ark Nova firm willing to pick up the defence force's contract. The unfamiliarity of mobile suit science, combined with the shear cost and danger of producing such weapons, made the plan seem unattractive to the other companies residing on the colony. Few executives even wanted to challenge the Alliance's arms industry or the Tresdemo Foundation, as neither of them are above a little industrial sabotage for reprisals. Fewer thought that it was possible for Ark Nova to sustain its own mobile suit production facilities, especially when a number of local mobile armor factories had failed to get off the ground.

Landon Technologies didn't care about competitors or precedent, however. The company quickly set to work collaborating with the defence force on different design specifications. Ultimately, a general purpose model was hammered out as the best to create, as it provided both versatility and the smallest learning curve for new pilots. The Gundam Leo was chosen as the design template, its unspecialized frame offering the ideal attributes and features. The original draft proposal seemed to be a complete clone of the Grand Cross Aeshma Prime and the Alliance's Soldati.

However, interviews with defence force personnel brought out a critical flaw in the draft. Recorded battles against both parent mobile suits revealed that they could sometimes be too generic to pose any significant threat. The limitations of one ranged and one melee weapon were very apparent. So, Landon's design team opted to take a page from the Grand Cross Vayu's record, and included a combination vulcan/missile short-range assault system to supplement a beam rifle.

For its part, the defence force threw in the G-Metal alloy that has been used extensively on the United Alliance's prototype mobile suits. The total package rolled off Ark Nova's first mobile suit assembly line in record time. Its code name, Coyote, has two rumored origins. One claims it is a direct jab at the Alliance's old Foxhound moniker. The other cites it as a tribute to an incredibly resilient, almost indestructible, cartoon character. Regardless, it is a surprisingly advanced unit, despite its simplicity, and is even capable of augmenting its abilities with Ark Nova's new Wolfhound support unit. It should be noted that there are two sub-types of Coyote, the standard unit and one slightly modified to denote officer's and ace pilots. This involves a simple aesthetic change to the usual paint scheme as well as sensor head restyled to resemble the notorious Gundams.
