For the Bellerophon's remote weapons, much like was the case of the Testament, technology has helped replace what the metaphysical can no longer accomplish. Rather than rely on a Newtype Resonance interface to launch, guide, and fire its eight funnels, the suit uses the Alliance's new Disconnected Rapid Armament Group Overlook Operation Network (DRAGOON). Using short-range quantum communication, the DRAGOON allows a pilot to verbally issue pre-programmed formations and attack patterns, effectively giving him/her a backup squad. Each of the DRAGOON's funnels is highly maneuverable, even in an atmosphere, and mount a pair of potent beam cannons that can bring down a foe from multiple angles. The one drawback to the system is that, like any machine separated from a Coordinator, the funnels have an operation time of approximately 54 seconds before they have to return to their docking mounts on the suit or risk going completely offline.
It addition to its sophisticated main weapon, the Bellerophon includes a long-range beam rifle and a pair of compact, hidden sabres to flesh out its conventional combat abilities. More eye-catching, however, are the beam shield emitters that are mounted on each of its wrist guards. These devices create diamond-shaped energy fields that are roughly ten meters in diameter, giving the suit a potent defensive measure against most conventional arsenals, albeit with limited integrity. Thrown in to the design are features taken from the Testament prototype, including the anti-gravity Craft system and heavy hyperpulse engines, which are the only forms of propulsion that could allow this heavy unit to fly. It also features a dual engine arrangement, though both Neutron-S generators are kept within the suit's body.
For the time being, only one Bellerophon prototype has been rolled out of the Alliance's factories. This machine was entrusted to Combat Coordinator Tobias Winter, not just because his strengths include long-range combat but also due to his connection to one of the suit's creators, Commander Issac Winter. Also, there are rumors that the machine's name is somehow meant to be redemptive of events that lead to the disastrous end of the third war. None of this has been widely acknowledged, however, and the Alliance is more than satisfied with the finished product, no matter what is it called. The organization's confidence in the Bellerophon is likely to inspire future DRAGOON-using units.
