(October 2000)
I would like to thank my editor, Donna E. Her encouragment means a lot to me.
"Thanks a lot, Rosey. I've to go. I"ll see you later, or on second thought, maybe I won't come home at all." David Starsky growled as he left. He slammed the door behind himself.
Rosey stood there with a stunned look on her face. When the door slammed, she sat down on the couch and started to cry. "How dare he say all of those things to me. Maybe I won't be here when he comes back."
Meanwhile Los Angeles Police Department Police Department David Starsky was driving to work. He was getting madder at himself as the ride was getting longer. "Why did I say those things to her?"
Starsky and Rosey had been married about a month when this morning happened.
When Starsky got to work, his best friend and partner Ken "Hutch" Hutchinson looked up and said, "Morning, Starsk."
Starsky went over to the coffee maker, got himself a cup and went over to his desk beside Hutch's. "Yeah, good morning." Under his breath, he said, "Why did I say those things?"
"What, Starsk?"
"I just said why did I say those things." He started to stare into space as he began to replay the argument with Rosey in his mind.
"What are you talking about?"
"Rosey and I just had a fight before I left and we said some things that I know we did not mean."
"Your first fight, eh, Starsk?"
"Yeah."
"Starsk, I know you two will work it out, but you want to know something?"
"Yeah, okay, what, Hutch?"
"Now? Why, Hutch? I just got here."
"Well, we are not really working on anything pressing, and if this is going to affect you like I know it is, I would head home if I were you."
"Really, Hutch?"
"And don't worry about Captain Dobey, I'll cover for you."
"Thanks, Buddy." Starsky put down his coffee and headed home.
Meanwhile, Rosey was in the kitchen. The more she thought about the fight, the more she knew she was wrong too. In her mind, she thought, "David, I love you." The next thing she knew, she thought she heard the Striped Tomato pull up. She went to the living room window and she saw the car and Starsky getting out. He headed towards the front door and she noticed he had flowers in his hand.
The door opened.
"Rosey," he called as he shut the door.
"David? What are you doing home?"
"Well, I got to work and Hutch suggested I should come home and smooth things over." He went over to her. "Honey, you have been crying." He took her in her arms and he wiped the tears from her eyes. "I am sorry I said those things."
"David, I never meant any of those things, either."
He pulled her in for a passionate kiss.
"I am sorry I even said I might leave you."
"David, I knew you would never leave me."
"Rosey, I can not imagine my life without you."
She started to cry and said,"David, I cannot imagine my life without you either."
He started to kiss her passionately., "Rosey, I love you. These are for you." He took the flowers and gave them to her."
"Oh, they are beautiful."
"Just like you, my Rediculously Beautiful Lady."
"You should not have, David, you are so sweet."
"Ah shucks, Sweetheart," he said in his best Bogie voice. "You know, we should make up in the proper way."
"What way did you have in mind, David?"
"Maybe a little vertical Mombo."
"David, you are so wicked."
"Well, since I am playing hookey from work, why not do a little bit of that?"
"Now, that's an invitation if I have ever heard of one."
"Well, if Hutch comes looking for me, at least we'll gave an excuse."
"Blame Hutch because he is not here."
"Why not." S gave her his patented grin.
He took her by the hand and lead her into the bedroom.
"Rosey, you knock me out," he whispered in her ear as he started to kiss her all over.
She giggled, "I guess the bad guys are going to have to wait. We have other things to do."
"Yeah," he whispered in her ear.
He removed her top and bra. She helped him to take off the green T-shirt he was wearing today and she ran her fingers through his chest hairs.
"David," she managed to say breathlessly.
"Rosey, you make playing hookey fun."
"Well, if Captain Dobey wonders where you are, just tell him you had a little trouble at home."
"And her name is Rosey." He said as he gave her a grin.
They helped each other remove their clothes. They made love on the bed.
"Rosey, you make me feel so good." he whispered in her ear.
"David, you make me want to make you feel so good."
He gave her his patented grin as he kissed her passionately.
He cuddled up to her and said, "Rosey, I love you."
"I love you too, David."
He kissed her on the lips and said, "I would love to stay here all day and make love to you, but I really should get back to work."
"David, I know."
"I am glad we made up. I cannot imagine being mad at you for very long."
"Besides, the only thing about having an argument is making up."
He squeezed her. He gave her another kiss on the lips, "Well, I guess it is time to get dressed." He got up from his position on the bed, gathered up his clothes and got dressed. She got dressed too. He took her hand and walked her to the front door.
"I'll call you at noon, okay." He kissed her and gave her his patented grin.
"Sure."
He pulled her in for a sloppy kiss. "Put on your fanciest dress and get all dolled up. I am taking you out to dinner tonight."
"David, you don't have to do that. Making love to me now and the flowers is certainly enough."
"Nope, Rosey, I am still taking you out and I am not taking no for an answer. So, be ready when I get home and we will leave as soon as I change."
"Okay, you convinced me."
"I love you, Rosey,"
"I love you, David."
He gave her one last kiss and said, "Talk to you at noon."
"Bye David."
"Bye, Rosey. Lock the door."
She locked the door behind him. The last thing she heard was the Striped Tomato starting up as she watched through the living room window as he drove away.
Back at the squad room, Hutch was still trying to make hide or hair of the files.
"Hi, Starsk, looks like you smoothed things over with Rosey?"
"Yeah, Hutch, sure did."
"I was beginning to wonder."
"Did Captain Dobey come looking for me?"
"Nope. He's in a meeting with the Commissioner and will probably be there most of the rest of the morning."
"Okay."
"So, I suppose you guys made up the right way?"
"Hutch......."
"Starsky, I know you."
"I brought her flowers and we are going out to dinner tonight."
"Starsk, you really have it bad."
"Yeah, Hutch, but I never want to get over it." He grinned.
Starsky and Hutch laughed at each other and David got up and went over to Hutch's desk and tried to help him straighten up the files.
