Male Reproductive Freedom: Another Perspective

Nice web site. Welcome to the fray. (Editor's note:- Thanks!)

Having thought about all of this (Editor's note:- men's rights) a great deal, it seems to me that there are only three paths out of this, not all of them equally likely:

1. We do not notice that we are undercutting the reason that men do productive work at all, and so continue to drift into matrilineal kinship, which -- once a critical mass of adult males are thoroughly de-motivated by an inability to have children they can call their own -- sinks into economic and military collapse not unlike what happened in the former USSR. The government collapses with the economy, and we end up with the sort of Mobster Feudalism that is appearing now in Russia, followed by what will probably also happen to Russia, invasion and possible annihilation by the Chinese. I'm talking decades here.

2. An unlikely but possible resurgence in fundamentalist Christianity (the US in particular seems to go through one of these about every 80 years) which somehow re-establishes patriarchal religion, and with it, patriarchy. (By which I mean support in law for the idea that human males have rights to their children; something that today is not true anywhere in the industrialized West.) I do not look for this to happen, but it might. If it does, and it happens in time, it might prevent economic and military collapse.

3. We use technology to make men as reproductively independent of women, as technology has made women economically independent of men. Mostly this means artificial gestation, but there might be ancillary technologies required as well. This is the ONLY way I see out of the box that (a) provides men with the only motivation we have ever seen actually work to make men care about the future, i.e. having heirs they know are their own, without (b) re-imposing coercive patriarchal regulation on female sexuality.

In your Position Paper, you allude to support for the idea of "equal rights and responsibilities". Having come at this from every possible angle, I do not see how that can realistically be done without providing to men an opportunity to have children they can call their own. It is quite clear that, given the opportunity to do so, female humans will revert to the mating patterns of lower mammals, in which males have little or nothing to do with reproduction. Humans lived like this for millions of years, and made absolutely no progress the whole time. It was only the imposition of patriarchy, which basically amounts to the sexual regulation of women in lifelong pair bonds, that ever led human males to do diddly. As patriarchy breaks down and we revert to the sexual practices favored by females, we run the risk that men will lose the motivation that has gotten us out of the grass huts and into heated, lighted, homes with electricity and running water.

Society today is acting as though it can have the continued services of men as economic providers and protectors while stripping them of all rights to their children and treating them like government-operated Child Support Engines. If we've learned one thing from history, it's that threatening people with fines and imprisonment is not how you motivate them to work. Yet our model of the future Feminist Society seems to include harnessing the male population to subsidize an all-female single parenthood, and doing it with courts and prisons. Government today acts as though the purpose of marriage is to provide women with ex-husbands, who can then be compelled to financially subsidize whatever choices the woman makes, even if it is to boot him out of his own house and take his kids away.

It seems to me that if you advocate "equal rights and responsibilities", the number one item on your agenda has got to be a way to provide men with children they can call their own. We had better figure out a way to do that pretty quickly; if we go another twenty years down the path we're on now, there is no way we are going to avoid collapse of the technological infrastructure. Think 'food riots' in a country with 200 millions guns in circulation. That's where feminism and all this single parenthood is taking us. Men have no incentive to participate in the society that feminism envisions. And without the work of men, this place goes down the tube fast.

I know it's tempting to try to find a middle ground; some sort of Rodney King-like "can't we all get along?" scenario, but the evidence is overwhelming now that given the opportunity to do so, women will freeze men out of contact with the future generation. We need independent access to reproduction; we need artificial gestation. And we need it fast, before what we have now collapses right under us.

Editor's note:- Our opinions differ from where you say "It is quite clear that, given the opportunity to do so, female humans will revert to the mating patterns of lower mammals, in which males have little or nothing to do with reproduction." I agree it may seem so, giving the sorry state fatherhood is in today but I believe that this "brave new world" in which fatherhood would be a thing of the past is only a pseudo-feminist dream, brought about due to this current fad of Politically Correct revisionism of history i.e. the idyllic/sapphic "goddess age". It's the fashion statement of the past three decades, "I don't need a man." Many ignorant women have also taken this to mean "...and neither do my children."

Call us hopelessly naive, but we think that once we break the strangle hold of victim pseudo-feminism and Political Correctness on the public, and let Common Sense prevail, and let the truth, no matter how "offensive" it may be, come out, then we stand a chance of halting the dire consequences you predict. With the aid of the majority of women. They, (minus pseudo-feminists) have no more wish to see what you say happen than we do.

Hope you'll write again. Thanks.
