Boy, I am getting old You know you are getting old when the songs the play on the oldies station are the same ones you listened to in High School. Well, going through your web page brought back a lot of memories. Names like Walthal, I played soccer with his brother when I was in elementary school, Hilery Waynes, she dated my suite mate at ODU, and Amy Schfield, I went out with her best friend when I was a senior at G-F. There where some names missing like, Amy Ripton '91, Lisa Schmizer '90, Tara Heine '89, and Jon Gorkowski '88. They were the S-G's when I was there. I went to so many conferences. ODU all four years. PWC twice, it was during Football Season. New York twice, and GMU once. I was a Rap, Vice Chair, and Chair for all the HS and one College MUN conference at ODU. The best conference ever was Nationals, in New York in '95. I didn't win anything, but I met some of the coolest people. I will never forget, Committee all day, Hanging out all night, and doing all over again everyday for Five days. It was the best sleep deprivation experience I have ever had. I think I went on 3-4 hours of sleep a night. That's nothing compared to what I can go on now, but it seemed pretty significant then. I graduated ODU in May '95. I was an Army ROTC graduate and I started Officer Basic Course, FT Knox, KY 24 hours after graduation. It was a traumatic event. In Sep of '95 I was stationed in FT Hood, TX. as a Armor Officer, 1st Cavalry Division. I was responsible for 15 men and 4 tanks. I deployed to Kuwait in '96 after Sadam killed the Kurds in N. Iraq and we fired Cruise Missiles into Bagdad. I was notified on a Friday and left Monday. That's pretty good for a Heavy Armor Division. I got back in Dec of '96. Since, I branch transferred to the Quarter Master Corp. That's Supplies and Logistics. In Jan 98' I became the Personnel Officer for a 430 man battalion. Last June we were notified we would be deploying to Bosnia for 6 months and I will be leaving for Tusla on Tuesday next week. As the personnel officer I am responsible for manifesting flights for all 430 troops. It sounds easy, but it is not. Government contractors keep changing the dates for the flights, and soldiers keep coming up non-deployable. Not to mention I have solders in 8 different areas of the US sector. I am not looking forward to it at all. The temperature in TX today was 99 degrees, in Bosnia the highs right now are in the low 70's and the lows are in the 40's. They haven't built the concrete slabs for our shelters yet, because of the rain, and we are going to be living in tents for the first month or so. The funny thing is, they have E-Mail everywhere, so I will send you up dates when I can, if you would like. Anyway, enough wining, I did not recognize you from your picture on your web page, so I am sorry to say I don't remember you. Do you remember me??? It was such a long time ago, I sometime laugh when I think back to those days, because I have changed so much. I sometimes wonder how everyone else has changed. Write me back, and tell me about yourself.

Later, Randy

Thanks for writing back. I just got back from Bosnia 02 April. Hopefully I will not be headed back to the Balkins anytime soon. Put me on that list for NMUN 2000. I was trying to get back there this year, but I got hung up in Bosnia till the last minute. Me and a few others who were in Bosnia with me were considering forming a small delegation and attending the conferance, but the timing just didn't work out. I am not sure where I will be in April of next year, but New York sounds like a good goal.
