Isaac's Opinion On Taxes

Still working on this one, come back soon!
Okay, Let's just start this off with a simple fact...I HATE TAXES! I also understand they are a necessary evil. The IRS is one government agency that has been allowed to run wild. The tax structure is such that it not only bleeds us all dry, most of us have to use further funds to have our taxes done for us.

As if it weren't bad enough that the federal government taxes our income, it also taxes us for our gasoline, snack foods, phone use, cigarettes, and a myriad of other products and services. On top of that many states have additional taxes on our income, gasoline, snack foods, phone use, cigarettes, etc. There is also a sales tax in nearly every state.

I have seen reports that the Average American pays as much as 54% of their income in one tax or another! That's more that 1/2 of the American income going to the government!! It's no wonder that we have such a large number of families where both mom and dad work. I think that the dual income family has led to a juvenile crime problem of monumental proportions more than any other factor.

I would really like to see one of 2 things. Move the federal government to the Flattax or move the federal and local government to the 'OneTax'.

The Flattax is a plan (simplisticly stated) that taxes a family of 4 only on income OVER $38,500 and then at the flat rate of 20% (dropping to 17% in later years). No loopholes, no deductions, just a plain and simple tax.

The one tax abolishes ALL taxes, state, federal, local, excise, property....ALL taxes, except the one tax. You pay you one tax and your done. You want to buy a $25,000 car? You pay $25,000, not $25,000 plus sales tax, plus exise tax. You need to buy school clothes for you kids? You buy the clothes, not the school too (sales tax).

If any new plan is implemented I would like to see the law written so that ANY change to the code would require a super-majority of congress to implement it. The current plan where only a simple-majority is needed just makes it too easy for congress to place even greater burdens on all of us.
