WELCOME TO KOOSKIA, IDAHO

Kooskia is the last community enroute to the Selway Bitteroot Wilderness area. The Lochsa and Selway Rivers are noted for their white-water rafting and kayaking. They also boast great fly-fishing for Cutthroat and Rainbow Trout. The Middlefork of the Clearwater River is a lazier river which is great for summertime family floats in a rubber raft or inner-tube. The Middlefork and Southfork of the Clearwater River are noted for the excellent spring steelhead fishing. If you enjoy hunting, you can find everything from Turkeys and Pheasants to Elk, Deer, Bear or Mountain Lion. The Wilderness areas contain much wildlife and many alpine lakes for the horseman or backpacker to enjoy. Our small community has everything a family needs for accommodations. Kooskia has grocery, hardware, clothing, auto parts stores and two flower shops along with a bank and doctor's clinic. The nearest hospital is 24 miles away in Grangeville, the county seat. Kooskia is a quiet community with many friendly folks. Many people in this area garden, with our mild climate and rich soil, there are few things that won't grow in this area. Probably the biggest asset in this area is the pace of life. People here don't get in a big rush, it is a very laid-back slow life style here. It is a very big change to folks who come from the metropolitan areas.

Another place to find out information on Kooskia is Idaho's Northwest Passage.
