In general, though, of course you are right, society must recognize that abuse is genderless.  As far as I know I think the statistics show that men are the abusers 80% of the time, women 20%. Many Canadians, like yourself contact MPs on a daily basis through e-mail, telephone, surface mail, teleconferencing, fascimilie transmissions, visits, appointments, interviews, etc.  Taking into account unexpected delays, misconnections, equipment failures and operator error, contacts which are successfully recieved in our office are traditionally responded to within a two week to one month period, with our priority, as their elected representative, to the consitituents of Sackville-Musquodoboit Valley-Eastern Shore. Nonetheless, I appreciate the time it took you to bring your concerns to my attention and in closing may I suggest that you contact your own elected representative. I agree the justice system is weighted against men in cases of assault. Yes, women can, and do, abuse, which is why I, too, would oppose any attempt to define domestic violence as a gender based (man against women only) type problem.
