Do we really have three Gods?

Lets search the scripture with Evangelist Paul Attah

The subject of Godhead has been a controversial issue for many years now, but the fact is that God is not a God of controversy as can be seen in one of Apostle Paul's writing in 1 Timothy 3:16 "And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory". The controversy of Godhead has always being the doings of men. God in all his dealings with man, has always been so clear as to who He is. The bible said in Exodus 34:14 that "thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God" also in Exodus 20:2-3 "I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage, thou shalt have no other gods before me". Having performed the great miracles the set the children of Israel free from Egypt, God did not want to share his glory with any other being. God knows that man having been deceived by the serpent in the garden of Eden (see my article on the "Original sin") was now vulnerable to earthly influence. The controller of this world, the devil (Matt. 4:8-10 and 2Cor. 4:4), having fell from the grace of God (Isaiah 14:12-14) was and still is set to draw any of his successors to the garden of Eden to the same mud. God, being aware of what will befall man forewarned of His being God and only God. In Isaiah 43:10-11 He said "Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me". There is no controversy in this statements for God knows that there has never been and will never be any other God other than Him. Now the big question is "where do we get the 3 Gods or 3 God in one when compressed and refered to as trinity from? Is God the father, God the son and God the holy spirit real or is it a metaphor of God or human imagination or devilish distortion.

GOD AS THE FATHER

Let us start from God as the father. From the scriptures in the above passages, it evident that God has never been more than one and will not be in the future. Isaiah 44:6-8 "Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God. And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them show unto them. Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any". Moses in Deuteronomy 6:4 confirm this when he wrote "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD". It goes on and on to proof that there is no two or more Gods and that is the reason the Jews could not belief in Jesus who is said to be one the three persons that constitute one God. Who then is this Jesus and how come he is calling himself the saviour?

GOD AS THE SON

The prophesy of Jesus begun from the very first book of the bible. In Genesis 3:15 the Lord God in His judgement of the sin in the garden of Eden said " And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. How will this seed of the woman come and what is He going to do to bruise the serpent's head?

In the book of Isaiah 7:14 the prophesy of how the seed will come was made more clearer than ever before and given in this word "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel". Also in Matthew 1:23 "Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us". A virgin will bare this child whose name shall be called Emmenuel -God with us- : so far, there is still no controversy about God and this child who is the presence of God with man.

When it was time for this prophesy to be fulfilled, the following event took place Luke 1:26-35 "And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God".

We know that any male child born into this world is called a son of the man that conceive the woman that give birth to that child. Here we are confronted by a different situation. This child has no man to be his father since it's mother conceived without the knowledge of man. Angel Gabriel declared him to be the son of God to fulfil human conditions. However, it is not the first time that God has done something in this nature by referring to Himself. In Jerimiah 22:5, Hebrews 6:13 because God could swear by no greater, he swore by himself. This child shall be called the son of God because He is Emmanuel, God with us. He is coming into the world as a child just like every other children but because he is born in a divine nature and not in the way of man, He shall be called the son of God.

If Jesus is the son of God, does is then mean that God the father and God the son are two seperate beings working together in unity? If we say yes, that will contradict the first commandment of having other gods (Exd. 20:1- 4), and the prophesy of Isaiah 43:10-11, 44:8, not even smaller god in the form of a son. I we say no, then who is Jesus? In Isaiah 9:6 the nature of the man-God called Jesus is prophesied in these words, "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace".

Wonderful? Yes because he shall posses supernatural powers and perform wonders such as have never been before.

Counsellor (see God as the Holy Ghost

The mighty God? there is only one mighty God and that is God as the father. If this child is the mighty God, then He is God the father made flesh and called the son of God. John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. 1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. This child is nobody else but the almighty God. You might as well say the child Jesus is mighty God and there is Almighty God who may be higher than Jesus, well that will be a dangerous insinuation which will go against prophet Isaiah's revelations and the first of the ten commandments. Now study this scriptures carefully; Isaiah 45:23 I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear. Apostle Paul quoted this place in this words, Romans 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. Also Philemon 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth. Note that if there is any other God in heaven, on earth, or under the earth, that God will bow before Jesus.

The name of Jesus is the mysterious weapon of Christianity today. At the mention of the name, every force, visible or invisible must bow with respect.

The everlasting Father: If this child is the ever lasting Father, then He must be God the father. This tittle of Jesus prove beyond every doubt that He is the God of Genesis 1:1

The Prince of Peace: John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. Jesus is the only source of peace.

GOD AS THE HOLY GHOST.

Ghost is the spirit of a dead person, so if this ghost is a holy one, then the person must have lived a holy life before his death. There is only one person that meet this criteria and that is Jesus Christ. For every one born into this world have sinned. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Jesus is the only person that never sinned and lived a holy life. This imply that this ghost must be the Ghost of Jesus.

John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. As far as He (Jesus) was here in the flesh, the comforter will not come. By putting away the flesh, Jesus will be in the spirit once again just as He was before He became man and dwelt among us.

For those who think that the Holy Spirit is different from God, Jesus said in one of His teachings that "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth". John 4:24

We cannot separate God from the Spirit just like we cannot separate God from His Word. John in Revelation 1:4 talked about the seven spirits of God which are before His throne, yet we know that this are the seven manifestations of God, Just like He was in heaven as the Father, came down on earth as the Son, and when there is need to feel His followers with Himself, He came down as the Holy Ghost. Note that the Holy Ghost is the same as the Holy Spirit.

CONCLUSION

All the apostles of Jesus Christ including Paul belief and preach one God who was manifested in the form of Jesus Christ.
