
PACARIAN INFORMATION
The Constitution: The Constitution was originally written and ratified in 1886, but the new constitution, written in 1997, has recently gone into effect.
The President: The President is the head of state. He or she is elected to a five-year term, and may be elected several times.
The Assembly: The Assembly makes the laws in Pacaria. It consists of the Parliament and the Senate. The Parliament is the upper house. It has 10 members, with one elected from each state to four-year terms. The Senate is the lower house. It has 20 members, with two elected from each state to three-year terms.
The Prime Minister: The PM is the elected head of the government.
The Cabinet: The Cabinet decides what the government shall do it and how it shall be done. The prime minister serves as chairman of the cabinet, which consists of 12 ministers.
Political Parties: Parties are necessary to Pacaria's style of government. The chief parties have usually been the Conservatives, the Populists and the Socialists. In 1997, the Ibanet Law allowed fourth parties on the Executive Election ballot, and, as a result, millions of voters flocked to the newer parties. These parties include the Komonwalth Party, the Liberals, the Union Party and the National Caucus.
Population and Ancestry: Pacaria's population has recently surpassed the 25 million mark. About 75% of Pacaria's population is descended from Scottish, English or Italian ancestors. In the early middle ages, explorers from Scotland, England and what is now Italy each settled a region of the island. Since the 1930's many immigrants from Europe and North America have settled in Pacaria. Many are members of Aramanism, which is a religion.
Language: The official languages in Pacaria are English and Deinian.
Social Welfare: The government provides many services to promote the health and welfare of every Pacarian citizen for their entire lives. A Pacarian citizen receives government aid even before he or she is born, because expectant mothers get free medical care and weekly allowances. After a baby is born, its family receives a grant. The child's elementary and high school education are free. If his family is poor but he has the ability, he may also receive a free university education.As and adult, a Pacarian citizen may live in a low-rent building owned by the local governemnt. If he loses his job, he receives unemployment payments. If he gets sick, he gets sick pay. And if he must be hospitalized, the treatment and confinement cost him nothing. The citizen may select his own doctor, whose services are free. His dental examinations are also free.
Education: Every child goes through elementary school at the same rate, one grade per year. They enter the first grade at age 6, and progress to high school, where they move at an individual rate.
Museums and Libraries: Pacaria has more than 100 museums and art galleries. They also have over 200 libraries.
