Per Luiz Peter Clode's publication "Registo Genealogico de Familias Que Passaram A Madeira" my direct line ancestor Goncalo Fernandes "mudou para o sitio da Serra de Agua. Construiu nesta freguesia casas e uma Ermida de Nossa Senhora da Con eicao"...this ancestor became known as Fernandes da Serra de Agua, in Arco da Calheta. He died 13th of June 1539. As "legend" has noted he was the son of El-Rei D. Afonso V e da Excelente Senhora, sua sobrinha e mulher, Dona Joana de la Beltraneja.. If ny visitors to your homepage can help me with researching this family I would be greatly appreciated...
