BIKERS OF THE WORLD - UNITE!

August 2, this year. Hundreds of bikers started a crusade to Cyprus. Start was in Berlin, Germany. Hundreds more joined along the way.

The goal was to smash the barb-wire Iron Curtain that runs through Cyprus since the Turks invaded in 1974 and confiscated part of the island.

You still can't ride a bike from one side of the island to the other! And good peoples homes are still barred by the occupation troups.

The biker-marathon, named "Bigger than Euroborders", started from Berlin, Germany.

The greek/cypriot bikers were joined there by bikers from all over the world (Germany, United States, Austria, Slovenia, Finland, Ireland, United Kingdom, Holland, Italy, Portugal, Belgium and Greece). The bikers started their journey going from Germany through the Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, Romania, Bulgary, Greece and finally Cyprus.

Rain, accidents, customs problems.... nothing stopped them. They continued their difficult ride across Europe. Destination: Cyprus. Occupied Cyprus.

The bikers arrived in Cyprus on Saturday, August 10th, 1996. On Sunday, August 11th, 1996, they were joined by more than 6000 more bikers from Cyprus, to a peaceful protest rally trying to go past the so-called "Green Line", a virtual line that cuts through the middle of Cyprus to separate the free areas of Cyprus from the Occupied areas.

This is also called the "buffer zone" or the "no man's land", because no one is allowed to enter it, except the United Nations military personnel, who are also responsible for anything that happens within it.

This last stage of the rally was cancelled at the eleventh hour. The reason was confidential information that the turks would use the opportunity to further advance their position in the island.

The bikers, needing to express their opposition to the turkish occupation troops, joined into groups and did their own protest.

At Dherynia, a small village in the Eastern side of Cyprus, the peaceful rally, ended in tragedy. One cypriot biker, who entered the bufferzone, was caught in barbed wire and was cruelly beaten to death by turkish troops and civillians. He was, as all of the greek/cypriots and other bikers, unarmed.

He was beaten to death, helpless. A group of turks vastly outnumberd the cornered biker and clubbed him to death with sticks and rocks, in front of the eyes of turkish "police officers", UN army officers, and the cameras of all News Agencies!

You can see a series of pictures that clearly show the brutal murder of the cypriot biker on this page

Tasos Isaac, moments before his head was crushed by a barbarian Turk

August 14th, 1996

Today, the funeral of Tasos Isaak, the biker that was brutely murdered last Sunday, took place. After the burrial, his family, friends and fellow bikers went to the place of his death, to put flowers. The turkish army was waiting.

His cousin, Solomos Spyrou Solomou, climbed on the flagpole, to lower the illegally raised turkish flag. He was shot immediately by turkish officers. The turks shot him from 3 different angles, shooting 5 bullets at him, 2 of which after he was already dead.

The turks didnt stop at that! They began shooting towards the relatives and friends, wounding 12 of them, including a 59-year old woman and 2 UN british soldiers.

These were the tragic events of last week. These were the brutalities that the turks performed on unarmed greek/cypriots, bikers that wanted to protest in peace about the 22-year old drama Cyprus is living.

We call upon YOU, the bikers of the world, to show unity and alliance to your fellow bikers in Cyprus.

Make the Cyprus problem and the facts of August 11th and August 14th known to your friends and relatives. Raise the awareness of the Cyprus problem and the killings of two Greek Cypriot bikers in such a brutal and barbaric way in the 21th century.

Don't accept it! Don't just talk about it! ACT about it!

Demand from YOUR Government, the United Nations, the European Community, the rest of the world to find a solution to the problem.

Demand that they force the illegally present Turkish troops to leave Cyprus.

Demand that Cyprus is returned to its rightful owners, the CYPRIOTS!

YOUR government is giving money to these barbarians. They give YOUR money to them, to buy guns and occupy lands they don't own, kill and rape people, throw people out of their own houses.

Make your government stop this funding. I'm sure you can think of better ways to waste your OWN money.
