LibertyNet A Drop of Reason in a Sea of Irrationality Extra 7/20/00 Dear Friend of Liberty, I've just received the following note from my friend and fellow conservative activist, Phil Sheldon (son of Lou Sheldon): "John McCain has just confirmed that, if asked, HE WILL RUN AS BUSH'S VICE PRESIDENT. ---MSNBC, 6:00 PST" McCain's announcement may be bad news, since we don't want someone supporting further government infringement of your God-given, natural right to spend your income supporting your political beliefs. McCain's "campaign finance reform" would effectively silence the NRA, the Eagle Forum, Citizens for a Sound Economy, National Right to Life, and all the other conservative groups which battle the liberal media, leaving the liberal media with a virtual monopoly on the dissemination of mass media political news in America. So why do I say that McCain's announcement MAY be bad news? I've predicted on LibertyNet that staunch conservative opposition to McCain combined with Bush's own appeal to independents and moderates will veto McCain's nomination as Bush's vice presidential running mate. I even wonder if perhaps McCain finally has stopped pretending he doesn't care whether he gets the nomination and said he'll accept BECAUSE his chances of getting it have faded. Only time will tell, so stay tuned. Sincerely, David B. Levenstam, CPA, MT, MA Bush/Cox in 2000!
