Performed year 2000 analysis renovation and remediation for COBOL and Assembler languages for several clients including customers and EDS corporate CIS for the CIO Services business partner. During that time he contributed in the areas of program research, devising renovation strategies, coding and testing.

CATERPILLAR (York, PA - Bar Products)

Applications Supervisor

March 1994 to October 1996

As an Applications Supervisor from March 1994 to October 1996 Ralph was responsible for managing a staff of thirteen technicians, programmers and analysts and the supervisor of four contract maintenance personnel. Together these were responsible for all communications, phone, video conferencing, office, business, desktop and manufacturing systems that supported the York Plant. Ralph was responsible for all personnel related issues, budgeting for information systems and status reporting and served as a level 2 support person for the PC, Network and telephone systems in the plant. During this time he participated in a VSE to MVS move as a CICS COBOL and Assembler Programmer.

As an Office Systems Supervisor from June 1991 to March 1994 Ralph was responsible for managing a staff of five people and the supervisor of four contract maintenance personnel. Together these were responsible for all communications, phone, video conferencing, office, and desktop systems for the York Plant. Ralph was responsible for all personnel related issues, budgeting and status reporting and served as the level 2 support person for the PC, Network and telephone systems in the plant. He was the project lead on the Video conference install. During this time he wrote several screen scraper 3270/Visual Basic applications.

As a Senior Analyst from January 1987 to June 1991 Ralph was responsible for planning an implementing the information system infrastructure for the York Plant With A Future (PWAF) implementation. This included the oversight of the design and implementation of a plant ETHERNET and the design and implementation of several Manufacturing Systems. On one of these, Ralph was one of two persons collectively responsible for the machinery, controls and information systems for a Monorail Steel Delivery System that integrated processing on VAX/VMS processors with the UNIX PC's and AB PLC's in the device. During this time he wrote several programs in VAXC, and worked with ORACLE SQL.

CATERPILLAR (Morton IL, Parts Department)

Senior Analyst

January 1984 - January 1987

As a Senior Analyst from January 1984 to January 1987 Ralph was the primary person responsible for the selection, design, implementation and support of CICS for the Caterpillar U. S. Parts Department Integrated system. He provided performance and cost data to determine the feasibility of the system, selected and ordered software, designed and implemented the CICS environment and supported it during the implementation of several hundred CICS programs. Ralph was also tasked with training and supporting the Application Programmers, only a small number of which had any prior CICS experience.

CATERPILLAR (York PA, Parts Department)

Senior Analyst / Supervisor

February 1965 - January 1984

As a Senior Analyst / Supervisor from February 1975 to January 1984 Ralph was responsible for the selection of hardware and software, design, creation and support of the CICS / 3270 Order Entry and Invoicing system which replaced the 2740 entry system. He was responsible for all personnel actions for three programmers and the support of the parts locating systems. The initial implementation of this systems effort reduced payroll of the user department by seven people. He was also responsible for implementing methods (modem connections, etc.) to replace key punching orders further reducing labor costs. In addition he was responsible for the implementation of Computer Output Microfiche.

As Senior Analyst / Supervisor from February 1974 to February 1975 Ralph supervised the twenty one members of the first shift computer operations of the York Parts Department. During this time he retained the responsibility for the support and enhancement of the Order Entry systems and the DOS/VSE operating system.

As an Applications analyst from July 1971 to February 1974 Ralph supported and enhanced the Order Entry and Storeroom location systems.

As a Systems Analyst from October 1967 to July 1971 Ralph supported the Order Entry and Location Systems. During 1970 he designed and implemented an on-line BTAM / 2740 based order entry system that reduced labor costs and greatly reduced the time from receipt of an order to its time of being available to the stores group for filling.

As programmer from August 1965 to October 1967 Ralph was responsible for COBOL and Assembler coding to replace the 1401 with a S/360. He learned 1401 SPS and re-coded many programs 1401 programs in COBOL. He also provided much of the input for file design for the initial project phase. Ralph served as the junior member of the design team for this system. He was promoted to analyst and took over the project lead of later phases.

As a Computer Operator from March 1965 to August 1965 Ralph was responsible for the operation of an IBM 1401.

SHIPPENSBURG STATE COLLEGE

Programmer / Student Lab Administrator

May 1964 � February 1965

As a programmer / student lab administrator from May 1964 through February 1965 Ralph was responsible for designing College Applications including grading, scheduling and reporting programs and for providing support for student in the FORTRAN and SPS programming classes.
