"The mission of the American Association for Affirmative Action is to promote understanding and advocacy of affirmative action to enhance access and equity in employment, economic and educational opportunities." -- Adopted by the AAAA Board at its meeting on September 22, 1995.  AAAA dedicates itself in Legislation to communicate information related to Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action and to protect and promote EEO/AA issues. AAAA prides itself on providing education opportunities including a Certification Training Program.
 

AAA was created to oversee the Affirmative Action (Equal Employment Opportunity for Women) Act in 1986. The Act requires companies, organizations, non-government schools, unions and higher education systems to create affirmative action programs. The programs should remove discriminatory barriers and promote equal opportunity for women in the work place. The agency’s responsibility is to enforce the Act and to educate organizations to create opportunities for women in the workplace.
 

This site presents the diverse opinions related to Affirmative Action without choosing a pro or con position. The AAD Project creates an “academic resource,” which includes, “on-site articles, theoretical analyses, policy documents, and legislative updates.”
 

Americans United for Affirmative Action is a national, non-profit organization committed to educating the public on the importance of maintaining affirmative action programs and the principles of equal opportunity in employment and education.  Their goal is to carry on the social justice work begun by civil rights leaders more than 30 years ago. They belive that affirmative action programs act as "vital safeguards and our nation's best tools for removing the roadblocks of race and gender discrimination."
 

The Coalition to Defend Affirmative Action By Any Means Necessary, was founded in 1995 in Berkeley, California. BAMN was formed in retaliation to the Affirmative Action decision in the UC system. Californians for Justice Education Fund is a statewide, grassroots organization dedicated to build power in communities that have been pushed to the margins of the political process. These groups -- communities of color, and young and poor people of all colors -- represent a new emerging majority in California. Californians for Justice (CFJ) is dedicated to winning a vote and a voice for this new emerging majority. CFJ was founded in 1995 to build support for affirmative action and to defeat Proposition 209, the anti-affirmative action ballot initiative. While Proposition 209 passed at the polls in the 1996 elections, our volunteers were so energized by their grassroots work that we decided to form a new, membership   organization -- the Californians for Justice Education Fund.
 

The Defend Affirmative Action Party is a group dedicated to fighting for all students rights and interest. DAAP fights to defend “the programs and policies that seek to offset the racist and sexist inequality of today’s society – affirmative action.” DAAP represents this growing national and local movement on Michigan Student Assembly.
 

Founded 1918, the Federation of Women Teachers' Associations of Ontario was created to deal with the particular concerns of elementary women teachers in this province. At that time, the major concern was discrimination in women teachers' salaries, but as years have passed, many other concerns surfaced. Today, FWTAO continues to press for the interests and concerns of the elementary women teachers and for women and children in society.  FWTAO is committed to Affirmative Action as an effective way of overcoming past discriminatory practices.
 

The NASW is committed to social justice for all. It supports the National Committee on Women’s Issues, National Committee on Racial and Ethnic Diversity and the National Committee on Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual Issues.  NASW devotes itself to protecting and promoting justice for all minorities.
 

NOW is an organization dedicated to opening the doors of opportunity to the women and people of color. In 1998 NOW lobbied preserving a plan giving 10% of federal contacts for businesses owned by women and minorities. NOW has sponsored marches, campaigns and lobbied to support the minorities and women.
