The blues is like any other kind of music.Some of us excel of it. Some don't.But we all have the blues - red, white, black, brown, yellow. You can be successful and still have the blues. I have been fortunate, and yet now I have more to sing about than ever.
  ...I play from my heart. When I play a solo, I hear myself singing through the guitar. Your solos should depend on the kind of music you are playing. If you're a jazz musician, you should improvise. If you're a soul or a rock musician, the same. But a folk or a blues musician should play from the heart. To be honest with you, I think everyone should do that. If your heart tells you to get out a little bit, then do so.
  ...It's kind of like never lying, like if someone woke you up at midnight and sad, "Did you...?" - you would automatically tell the truth. That's the way I feel about playing the blues.
