Nick's Ping-Pong fire, sparkle & crackle things.
These are some little fireworks things I made recently. They are very simple and are pretty to watch.
What you need.
7.5g Potassium Nitrate
1g Sulfur
1.5g Charcoal (these also work with icing sugar)
1g Magnesium files (medium-fine)
0.5g Iron (I used powder stuff I got out of a metal grinder)
3 to 4cm green visco fuse
Some clear sticky tape.
Method
First dry mix the sulfur and the charcoal. Then mix in the Potassium Nitrate, Magnesium and Iron. I just mixed these in an
Film canister by shaking it. I also stirred it around in my mortar and pestle.
Next cut a square hole in the top of the ping-pong ball that has about 3/4cm side lengths (this is not extremely important). Now pour in the compo and insert the visco. Just put about 1 to 2 layers of sticky tape all around the ball as evenly as you can (make sure you cover the hole, but leave the fuse hanging out).
Once this is done your in business all you have to do is light the fuse and roll the ball along the ground.
These should burn very brightly with a bright whitish pinkish flame.

These diagrams might help you understand what I mean.
