INTERESTED IN ANOTHER SANDWICH?
This is the example of
sandwiched 4-phenyl-4-cyanophenylcyclohex-2-enone (the middle layer).
One can see that the cyanophenyl group is "anchored" by hydrogen bond while
the phenyl group is relatively free. Can you predict now what group, phenyl
or cyanophenyl, will migrate if we will irradiate of the crystal?
(A hint - In solution the cyanophenyl migration is preferred (20/1).)
