Alan Bean

Alan Bean was the Lunar Module Pilot (LMP) on Apollo XII with Charles Conrad, Jr. & Richard Gordon.
This was his first space flight and he replaced C.C. Williams who was originally assigned to the flight but was tragically killed in an aircraft accident. Consequently, Bean was the fourth man to walk on the moon.

Later, Bean commanded the second Skylab mission with crewmates Jack Lousma & Owen Garriott.
Today, he is one of very few accomplished space artists whose work is very highly sought after and includes several spectacular limited edition pieces counter-signed by as many as 24 astronauts from various programs.

Most recently, Bean has been touring the country promoting his new new book with text by Andy Chaikin entitled "Apollo: An Eyewitness Account." Be sure to check out these in-person pics with both he and Chaikin.
