Purple Dead Nettle
(aka: Red Dead Nettle)


Lamium purpureum

This member of the Mint family sports flowers similar to that of it’s close relative Henbit (Lamium amplexicaule), but tend to be paler. The upper, crowded, heart shaped, purple tinged leaves overlap each other. Plants measure 4 to 12 inches (1 to 30 cm) tall and in frequent along roadsides, in waste places, and is a common weed. Flowers bloom from April to October.
