Reactive power of the fundamental harmonic
compensation

The reactive power of the fundamental harmonic
is usually
a dominating component of the reactive power

It is usually enough to compensate only this power
to improve the power factor

There are compensators
built only for this power reduction
or
it is reduced along with harmonic suppression or the load balancing.
