This is the Estes Maxi Alpha 3. It is a larger version of the Estes Alpha
3. The Alpha 3 is still available, and is a simple to build and fun to
fly rocket. The Maxi Alpha 3 is no longer made by Estes, unfortunately.
It is 36" long, and 2.6" diameter, and flies on "D"
engine power. This was a beautiful flight, to about 500'. It did land
in those trees in the background, but a helpful young man recovered it for
me.
This particular model is at least fifteen years old. It's older than my
son, Joe! It's got a couple of dents, and I've had to reattach the fins,
but the old girl is still hangin' in there!
