Karen Gibbs Update
January 29, 2001

I have an update on Karen (her sister just visited her this weekend):
Karen is back in the hospital (since Fri 1/26) due to extremely low white blood count and 105 degree temperature.  White blood count much better and fever down to 100.2 by Sunday 1/28 but her red blood count now low.  They will keep her there until fever gone and counts are more normal.  Had some kind of bone marrow treatment shot to bring up white counts.  She's losing hair in clumps now, but Sharon brought her 2 wigs!

A praise:  Karen's husband George is taking over the reins of child-rearing and the household.  Please also continue to pray for Karen and George's marriage and especially that they all come close to the Lord and depend completely on Him and not try to run on their own energy and knowledge.  It is hard on Karen to let go of the reins.  This is a new experience for them all.  Pray for wisdom for them too.

Please also pray for Karen to eat more food.  Her appetite is nil.  And she's pretty thin to begin with so needs some meat on those little bones of hers.  So far the only week that's pretty tough to handle is the first week when she gets the chemo.  2nd and 3rd week are pretty good, but then it's time for next round.  Each round gets more difficult.  And, Karen has no pounds to spare so please pray that her appetite would increase greatly during the "good weeks".

Thanks for all your prayers!  Blessings to you all!

The Prayer....
Original Prayer date:
November 21, 2000

Dear Lord, each day we hear of another one of our
sisters being stricken, I see an evil pestilence on the rise
in this country.  Lord; open the eyes of the researches
that they might know the path to a cure.
Give the practitioners the right guns
to shoot this evil out of the sky.
Lord, Give Karen and Kay and Phyllis restored bodies.
Allow Karen the prescribed time to grow her family.
Cause Her husband Lord to see that He represents you
in Karen's family and that He not abandon his wife and daughter, but rather that he become stronger for them.
Cause them to seek your face as never before,
to seek guidance from you and your throne.
And you be glorified dear Lord in the outcome of her health.
In Jesus' name we stand believing, amen.
