PROGRAM MISSION STATEMENT

The Mission of the Patient Care Assistant program is to provide the occupational skills for all people who desire to pursue a career in the allied health field. Graduates from this program will be prepared to provide quality care and comfort to all human beings.


PROGRAM OBJECTIVE

This comprehensive training program is designed to provide education to students in the skills and qualities necessary for employment as a member of the health care provider team.

The Patient Care Assistant works in close physical and social contact with patients and fellow workers; therefore, it is essential that he or she has qualities demonstrating good character: dependability, caring, cooperation, honesty, conscientiousness, empathy, trustworthiness, and the ability to follow instructions with accuracy.



CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Patient Care Assistant performs basic nursing functions under the supervision of the Nurse, Registered nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). They are qualified to work in all health care facilities: hospitals, nursing homes, retirement homes, doctor�s offices and clinics.

Home Health Aide is a component of the Patient Care Assistant program; therefore, the PCA is qualified to provide care to patients in their own residences.

The program serves as a good foundation for students to utilize as a stepping-stone in climbing the Nursing professional ladder.
